Wood-fire potter based in Gresham, Wisconsin. BA Grinnell College (1990), MA/MFA Ceramics University of Iowa (1997/1998). Full-time studio potter working almost exclusively with wood firing. Senior Fulbright Scholar in Taiwan (2012-13). Founded Mill Creek Pottery apprenticeship program (2004), training 23+ potters. Former Director at Large for NCECA. Founded Cohorts.Art mentorship program. Hosts video series on Ceramics Arts Network. Active kiln builder — built anagamas at Archie Bray Foundation, Syracuse University, SIU Edwardsville, and others. Known for functional pottery with rich wood-fired surfaces.
