Bernard Leach (1887-1979). British studio potter, 'the father of British studio pottery.' Studied in Japan under Kenzan VI. Founded Leach Pottery in St Ives, Cornwall (1920). Author of 'A Potter's Book' (1940), arguably the most influential ceramics text of the 20th century. Bridge between Eastern and Western ceramic traditions.
