Peter Voulkos (1924-2002). Greek-American ceramicist who revolutionized ceramics as fine art. Founder of ceramics program at Otis Art Institute. Professor at UC Berkeley. In the late 1950s, he broke with vessel tradition to create monumental abstract expressionist ceramic sculptures. Changed the trajectory of American ceramics forever.
